World No.1 Gregory Gaultier has confirmed that he will compete at this year’s AJ Bell ESF European Individual Closed Squash Championships, to be staged at the David Ross Sports Village at the University of Nottingham from the 24th to 27th August.
Gaultier, the 34-year-old Frenchman, has enjoyed a sensational 2016 winning six consecutive tournaments on the PSA World Tour, and can be guaranteed to make a tough-minded challenge for his tenth European Individual Closed Championship title after suffering a shock defeat in last year’s final to Spanish No.1 Borja Golan.
“It will be my first event of the new season,” said Gaultier. “Everyone will be fresh and ready to play after the summer break and I’m really looking forward to playing and representing my country.
“It will be the first time that I will have played at the University of Nottingham since the 2016 British Open and I’m really looking forward to experiencing the university’s wonderful new facilities,” added the nine-time champion.
